Welcome to Happy Feet Theatre School, founded over 22 years ago by Yvonne Ellis, now run by principal Sarah Ellis. The school has an excellent reputation in both amateur and professional fields

We have classes in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Classical Ballet, Tap, Street Dance, Modern, Rock 'n' Roll, Freestyle & Cheerleading.
Pupils range from aged 3 to 18 years.

We put on a fantastic dance and musical production every two years at Lancaster Grand Theatre.

About Us

Happy Feet is a dance and performing arts school situated at the Church of the Ascension Hall in the centre of the Lively village of Torrisholme.

What makes Happy Feet different? Students gain live performance experience through both school shows and professional shows where their individual talents are utilised to the fullest extent.

Students develop their confidence and performance skills. Dance technique is developed in all aspects of dance including Classical Ballet, Tap , Musical Theatre, Jazz, Street Dance, Freestyle, Modern, Rock 'n' Roll and Cheerleading.

The school has as it's first priority a happy environment. Pupils will be given the confidence to perform and taught to a high standard in a friendly yet disciplined manner.

Pupils will be entered for examinations and medal tests.

Classes for 3 - 6 yrs

This class introduces children to the world of dance in a fun and inclusive way. We combine dance routines to well known songs to provide an upbeat party atmosphere to keep the children engaged. Perfect for all budding princesses! This class for 3-6 years begins to develop poise and grace needed to progress in dance, it also incorporates tap dance exercise to enable children to gain experience before moving onto graded classes.

Classes for 6 yrs & over

Here at Happy Feet Theatre School we believe that pupils should take pride in achieving the most from this activity and develop their love of performance.
They learn in a bright, open & spacious area, participating in various lessons from musical theatre to commercial dance.

All pupils perform in the school shows, which are filled with diverse dance styles. Examinations are available in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Freestyle, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Cheerleading.

About Sarah Ellis


Sarah Ellis trained at Laine Theatre Arts in London. In her time there she achieved teaching qualifications in the ISTD board with distinction and graduated with a diploma in performing arts.

Her credits include winning the BBO Ballet Scholarship for two consecutive years and being asked to demonstrate the BBO Ballet syllabus. She has performed in multiple arena tours, fashion and trade shows including the Radio 1 road show, Clothes show live, party in the park, gay pride and the smash hits tours performing along side artists such as Steps and Five.

She also has experience in the TV industry including performances on shows such as GMTV, Sky TV, Blue Peter, Live and Kicking and the Irish Late Show.

Sarah has recorded radio jingles for Capital fm and LBC talk radio for James Whale.
She has performed on cruise ships in Miami and the Bahamas, been a dancer / illusionist assistant in the show Mystique and performed as Dance Captain also choreographing many professional shows starring artists such as Dr who (Colin Baker), Jodie Prenger, Little and Large, Billy Pearce, Paul Zerdin and Kathy Staff.

Sarah is now principal at 'Happy Feet Theatre School'

About Yvonne Ellis

Yvonne Ellis trained in Stage Dance from the age of 3 and in ballroom dance from the age of 12. At 14 she had her first professional engagement at the Winter Gardens Theatre in Morecambe, and as a teenager she was a member of an adult formation team with the Alan Joliffe school of Ballroom Dancing in Liverpool. She has been a professional dancer in variety shows, revues and pantomimes, working along side stars such as Danni La Rue, Val Doonican, Ruby Murray and Joan Regan. She has also performed for the troops at the American Airbase in Burtonwood. She is a fully qualified teacher and is a member of the A.D.A and GPTD.
